Guide
No-exam life insurance
Which applicants meet accelerated criteria, the process, and your options if you don't.
A number of carriers provide accelerated underwriting: for applicants meeting certain age and amount criteria, they use your application, drug history, driving records, and similar sources to make approvals, bypassing the paramedical exam. Approvals sometimes arrive within hours. Each rate on this site indicates whether an exam is needed, might be needed, or is not needed.
What it changes
Accelerated underwriting is not a shortcut to skipping reviews of your health. Your application will still be examined, and a policy sold with inaccurate information can be challenged in the first 24 months. The carrier may still request an exam or blood tests if their investigation uncovers anything; you retain the choice to proceed.
Who tends to qualify
Those in their late 50s or younger, seeking coverage within the carrier's fast-track threshold, with no significant past medical conditions and no nicotine or tobacco use within the last 12 months typically qualify. Some carriers will use recent medical checkup bloodwork instead of requiring a fresh exam.
Should an exam be needed, it customarily takes 20 to 30 minutes with a paramedical technician at your home or workplace in the Baldwin Park region, and there's no charge. For individuals in good health, the exam often leads to upgrading the rate tier, so it can actually work in your favor.
